Dynamic grouping of Project Headers and visualization

I would like to be able to group a number of project headers (the top most bar of a project plan) from a Project Portfolio list and to visualize these groups and the headers. The end user must be able to pick a grouping field and to regroup based on the selection.

The portfolio list contains: Project Name, Start and End Time and a grouping field and only project headers will be in the list.

A couple of questions:

What is the best product for this?
How can it be implemented?
Do you have any samples or code to illustrate this?

Thanks
Michael

Michael,

Is this a "Project" in Sharepoint? We are wondering since you posted this our Sharepoint forum. Or are you trying to create this UI within Sharepoint? Plesae clarify.
Thanks & Regards,
Rajagopal.

Michael,

Sorry for the late response. Our FlexyGantt sounds to be the ideal choice for this requirement. You can build a data model with appropriate grouping logic based on the user's preferences and simply bind it to the FlexyGantt. When the grouping logic changes, you should update your model and again rebind it to the gantt.

So, the gantt simply displays the data in your model and grouping logic has to be implemented by you.
Thanks & Regards,
Rajagopal.

Thanks!

But do you have any samples for this purpose?

Michael,

We don't have a sample for this scenario.

But, our suggestion is to simply update your model and then rebind it again with FlexyGantt like

Code:
fgantt.ItemsSource = null;
// Make any other changes required to the ItemTemplate, XYZBinding settings, if your model structure changes and then set it's ItemsSource:
fgantt.ItemsSource = newUpdatedModel;
Thanks & Regards,
Rajagopal.
